Please remember that while most of these sites offer you free Internet access/service, YOU are responsible for any local OR long-distance telephone charges to access these services. Please be sure to check with your local phone company before dialing to be sure that a listed number is not long distance for you. And by offering this list of sites, I am not recommending any of these sites over another, especially since I have yet to find one that offers a LOCAL phone number for my family and my use since we don't live in a major big city!

         A Spinway powered ISP, which means it uses basically the same software as BlueLight and Address.com do but they offer you free E-mail that you can also hear through the phone, and free voicemail, with your own toll-free 888 number.
  6. DotNow: http://www.dotnow.com/
         Free advertiser supported Internet access with dialup numbers in over 1100 US cities. (US). "DotNow offers totally free internet dialup access to customers in hundreds of US cities -- totally free! Their aggressive placement of access lines means that they have over 2400 points of presence (POPs) in all 50 states, with over 90% penetration." While you are online, The dotNow! bar™ is shown during the entire time that you're online, and displays ads that refresh periodically.

         fanz.net is a full service Internet service provider with primary offices in Seattle, Washington. They are an ad-based free internet which gives you "unlimited access, including 5 email accounts, 2MB of space for your own web pages, access to Usenet newsgroups, their own portal site, and 60 days of toll-free technical support." If you decide to sign up, where it asks about who told you about FreeDSL, choose Friend and where it asks you for the email address for who you were referred by, put squire_wolfbane@hotmail.com so that my son Michael can qualify for a free FreeDSL modem if he gets 10 referrals. You can also refer people to get the same thing when you sign up!

  13. iFreedom.com: http://www.ifreedom.com/
         FREE Premium Internet Access Provider - Nationally available free Internet access. They are advertising supported, but you only see a banner every 20 minutes. They are working on a Mac version. (US, 95, 98, NT) Here's what you get for free:  "unlimited internet access in 2800 cities in USA & Canada; 56k V.90 dial up connect; 16 mb free webspace; free email account (POP3); 50 mb free file storage; free newsgroup access; and surf the real Internet!"
  14. Juno.com: http://www.juno.com/index.html
         Their basic service provides full Internet access and e-mail for FREE or you can get one of their premium services, Juno Web SM ($9.95/mo) and Juno Express SM (National pricing for Juno Express has not yet been announced.), "which provides added features such as priority network access, free live technical support, and super-fast broadband speed."
  15. Net Zero: http://www.netzero.com/
         "NetZero provides consumers with unlimited Internet access, e-mail and navigational tools to enhance their online experience: all for free.          Offers 1 time fee. Keeping checking their site for new promotions as their Limited Time Promotion has expired and they are dedicating their efforts at the present time to ensure that their existing customer base receives the best possible service.

         They offer 2 kinds of accounts: a free one or their premium service. With the Free one, you get FREE Internet Service with a 56K Dial-Up Internet Account, FREE 25MB Web Space with FTP or Nettaxi Site Builder Access (Free Accounts using Nettaxi Site Builder are limited to 4 Web pages.), and FREE Email with Nettaxi.com POP & WebMail.

         ProNet USA provides 56k Dial Up and ISDN service across the US and Canada. All accounts include Free Web Hosting, USENET (NEWS), and Email. Onetime set-up fee of $20.00 setup charge to ProNet USA and $9.95 setup fee directly to the market research company supporting the program. You also have to fill out 1 survey form per month to continue your access. No banners - just e-mails sent to you. Macs ok. Has over 1200 locations across the US and Canada.
