Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the mornings hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

Cedric Crutcher was a 17-year old young man whose life ended much too soon. He lost his life on Sunday, January 16, 2000, in the parking lot of the Northwest Church of Christ in Huntsville, Alabama.
Please do whatever you can to help stop the violence that causes such tragic and senseless deaths such as Cedric's especially where kids are concerned.
I offer the words on this page to his family and friends in the hope of giving them some comfort in the face of their loss. Cedric will not be forgotten and he will continue to live on in each person whose life he has touched.
It is my understanding that the Sparkman High School senior class officers have started a schoolwide drive to create a memorial fund in Cedric's honor. I hope to be able to provide more information and an address here soon where donations may be sent if you would like to contribute.
